Budget Analyst / Senior Budget Analyst

FLSA STATUS: Exempt - Professional
CLASSIFICATION: Personnel System - Requires satisfactory completion of a six-month probationary period.
PAY GRADE: 117 ($54,569 - $65,004) or 119 ($60,164 - $71,669)
SAFETY SENSITIVE: No

Purpose of Job
The purpose of this job is to assist in the preparation, execution, and monitoring of the annual operating and capital budgets. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, preparation of the annual operating budget, preparation of the annual capital budget and five year capital improvement plan, reviewing and authorizing budget transfers and amendments, instructing departments in budget preparation, financial and budgetary analysis on various budgetary and fiscal issues, working with departments to develop and update descriptions of services and programs and allocating costs to those various services and programs, and performing additional tasks as assigned.

Job Related Requirements

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; Must report on site first 6 months; flexible schedule to be discussed after initial 6 months.

May be required to work on religious holidays.

Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Must work cooperatively with others.

When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness, and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy.

Minimum Training & Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:

Budget Analyst, pay grade 117
Bachelor's degree in Public or Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or closely related field with three years of budgetary, cost accounting, accounting or related experience required; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.

Valid driver's license required

Master's degree or professional certification preferred.

Senior Budget Analyst, pay grade 119
Bachelor's Degree in Public or Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or closely related field and four years of experience in public administration, budgeting, finance or closely related experience.

Must possess 1 of the following certifications: Certified Public Finance Officer through the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) or similar organization, Carl Vinson Institute of Government Local Finance Officer Certification – Level 1, or other similar certification.

Valid Driver’s License required.

Master's degree preferred.
