This free course will help you gain the knowledge you need to strengthen your community for economic resilience and recovery. It provides the background needed for leaders from local and regional governments and economic development organizations to undertake the planning required for economic recovery and more resilient communities.
How can you build capacity for economic recovery? It starts with a sound planning process prior to a disaster to engage key stakeholders in developing and upgrading your recovery toolbox with a plan, financial tools, and policies. Developing and updating a recovery plan helps a community mitigate risks and speed recovery after economic disruptions.
ICMA and the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) developed this interactive training course, “Planning for Economic Recovery,” in partnership with FEMA. The three partners bring unique perspectives and practical case examples to economic recovery planning.
