Local government professionals can progress towards sustainability and clearly defining what it means by harnessing the already-established principles found in the ICMA Code of Ethics.  Specifically, the Code directs members to devote their talents to social responsibility; a commitment to societal benefit through building communities that last now and in the distance future.  This can be especially difficult when many of the choices revolving around sustainability are right-versus-right.
