2016 Outstanding Achievement in Innovation award winner

Over the past four years, the IT department at the City of Palo Alto has transformed its services, skills, processes, and working environment into something akin to a tech start-up. After all, Palo Alto is the birthplace of Silicon Valley. It was the logical transformation for a department serving a community that was long overdue to better reflect the start-up culture of the city. Central to the change was the design of a new working environment that opened in April 2015. This innovative workspace gets the same positive reaction several times a day from visitors, "Is this City Hall?"
