As a result of the public/private partnership established between Mecklenburg County and IBM through the Smarter Cities challenge grant, Mecklenburg County (“the County”) has been able to engage in an innovative Joint Master Capital Planning project. Mecklenburg County’s Joint Master Capital Planning project is an innovative, collaborative effort with all Mecklenburg County departments and entities that collectively constitute local government within the political boundaries of the county including the City of Charlotte and the towns of Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Matthews, Mint Hill and Pineville. The County and its partners fully engaged with IBM to develop a “road map” of recommendations that provide a course of action to address the disconnected manner in which capital infrastructure investment decisions have previously been made within the County.
