This is the 2010 nomination of the City and County of Broomfield, Colorado and Wesminster, Colorado's Creation of the Open Space Foundation and Subsequent Acquisition of the 152-acre Metzger Farm for the Community Partnership Award. City and County Manager George DiCiero and City Manager J. Brent McFall are credited with aiding in the development of this Foundation to structure the acquisition of Metzger Farm so that it would be jointly managed. This action meant that the Foundation could issue Certificates of Participation to finance the property, with each area paying annually towards this debt. The farm will be an asset to both communities as it provides a recreational area complete with hiking trails, bike paths, and picnic areas.
