When people around us heard that we stayed near The Galleria area in Houston, every people excited to share with us the gorgeous and fancy things in this area. Well, Muna and I chose to go for nature. It was pretty hot in last Saturday. Since we lack of exercise in the past few days and would like to enjoy natural Vitamin D from sunshine, we decided walk to Urban Harvest Fresh Market which 2.5 miles far from our hotel. It took us 1 hour walked to get there. The facilities for pedestrian are good and almost all motor vehicle will give priority to the pedestrian.

Finally, we reached our destination- Urban Harvest Fresh Market. This market open every Saturday from 8.00 am until noon. You can look for natural or organic products from fruits and vegetables, flowers, perfume essences, egg and meats. A little bit pricey for vegetables, but is fresh, organic and also help to support local hard working farmers. After spent an hour, we decided move to another attraction point- Project Row Houses.

I like walking because it made the experience really fun and stress free. We passed by the different residential areas, gallery and beautiful flowers lining the way. Dr. Helena Wolf, Public Health Associate did share with us that she love this city because she can enjoy different blossom of flowers. I walked through and fully agreed with her. This beautiful scenes really cheer up my day!

We walked through the pedestrian facilities, busy traffic junction, beneath the high road, crossover the Metro rail, passed by different racial communities and business areas. The whole journey only 2.8 miles, but the greatest experience is far than the actual distance. Another one hour, we reached at the destination - Project Row Houses.  It is a community-based arts and culture non-profit organization in Houston's northern Third Ward. The houses were built in 1930s. Each house disseminate different ideas and decorated as little museum/ gallery. One of the houses put on message “Voice at the Table”. They displayed different type of tables and arranged at the same height level with support. It is good to show unity too. We are different, but we can as one through unity and support each other. Another amazing piece of art was voice out their opinions through sand sculptures. They have words to say but they are weak and fragile. One of the gallery really enlighten me how to communicate each other without presence. The artist just wrote 2 questions on wall, “What does police presence look like in Houston?” and “What does community safety look like in the absence of police?” The visitors wrote their opinions and paste on wall.  We don’t know each other but we can communicate in same topic that we concerned.

I felt safe to walk in Houston. It comfortable and felt free of any threaten risk along my journey. It willed be good if we met lovely weather.  In this trip, it made me walked into community and learnt from the community. There are many ways to express our needs and thoughts, use creative and innovative ideas from daily life practice. I am so grateful come to Houston city.   Now I am energized and refresh my mind to continue my next journey.
