While spending time with Peter Robertson, City Manager of Fort Collins, Colorado Darin Atteberry was struck by Robertson’s passion. Robertson is a parks and grounds technician but he practices his skills in an unusual environment–Fort Collins’ Grandview Cemetery. Fort Collins has 875 acres of developed park land including 6 community parks and 42 neighborhood/pocket parks and 35 miles of recreational trails that flow through our City.

Robertson describes his job of maintaining and caring for the cemetery as almost a sacred mission. Residents leave their deceased loved ones in the care of Robertson and other staff members and Robertson takes pride in the beauty of the grounds he maintains in their honor. Robertson has relatives buried at Grandview and as he describes his job “You’re dealing with people that are having such a hard time in their lives and being able to relate and to just reassure them that we’re providing them with the best possible place that we can.”
