Just returned from a long weekend in New York City where I was attending the Vogue Knitting 2013...tons of new fiber to create things and learning new techniques to create cool hand knit stuff.  Knitting is my escape from local government management! While I was in NYC I saw Wicked on Broadway...I was captured by the song and thought of "Defying Gravity".  Defying gravity is what we are challenged to do everyday as local government managers; we are challenged everyday with the opportunity to defy that which is being pushed from the federal and state government to local government.  More later on this thought in a future President's Message in PM magazine!
