SolSmart is proud to announce the SolSmart City & County Challenges

These national competitions presented by the National League of Cities and the National Association of Counties were launched for cities and counties to showcase their support for solar energy. Funded by the U.S. Department of Energy's SunShot Initiative, the SolSmart program aims to nationally recognize solar-leading local government organizations and communities and empowers counties and cities to become more solar-friendly through no-cost technical assistance.

The Challenges

The SolSmart City & County Challenges started Monday, August 8th and will run until Friday, September 9th. Cities and counties can join the challenge by completing the SolSmart designation scorecard during this five-week period only. The two cities and the two counties with the highest verified point totals during this timeframe will receive first and second places prizes. ALL communities participating in the SolSmart challenges still have the opportunity to win as communities can still achieve bronze, silver or gold SolSmart designation. Any city or county that completes a designation scorecard is also eligible for no-cost technical assistance from SolSmart's team of solar experts who will work with elected officials, city staff, and community members to help improve their solar policies and processes.
