In December 2019, a solicitation was send to those ICMA members who have previously served on ICMA’s executive board as regional vice presidents encouraging each of them to consider becoming a candidate for ICMA president elect. Following that solicitation, one former board member submitted his name to be a candidate for the position. Unfortunately, earlier this month, that individual withdrew from consideration. The board is now relaunching its efforts to fill this critical role.
On Friday, June 12, an email was sent to the 49 individuals eligible to serve, asking them to consider providing guidance and leadership to ICMA during these turbulent times for our association, our profession, and our communities. The deadline for submission of expressions of interest and letters of support is Friday, July 24, and the successful candidate will be inducted into office on September 26 at the conclusion of ICMA's digital annual conference.
