2019 ICMA Annual Conference Scholarship Winners

Twenty-one ICMA members competed for and were awarded scholarships to attend the annual conference in Nashville thanks to ICMA’s Conference Assistance Scholarship program.  These scholarships are designed to support diversity, early career professionals, and members working in smaller communities with limited financial resources. The scholarship recipients received complimentary conference registration, tickets to the opening reception, and a monetary stipend to offset conference-related expenses. Congratulations to the following scholarship winners:

Young Professional Scholarships (open to individuals who have no more than three years of experience as a full-time local government employee):

Workplace Diversity Scholarships (open to individuals who are female, minority, or identify with or represent a group commonly associated with the term diversity):

  • Melissa Hipp, assistant to the city manager, Vestavia Hills, Alabama
  • Cynthia Esparza, community liaison, Reno, Nevada

  • Nicole Bartell, assistant to the city manager, East Lansing, Michigan

Small Community with Limited Financial Resources (open to individuals working in a small community with limited financial resources who have not attended an ICMA Annual Conference):
