While local governments cannot predict with certainty what the future will hold, they can prepare themselves to be future ready. With the release of "Next Big Things" last year, the Alliance for Innovation (AFI) identified forces and trends that will transform how local governments engage with citizens, build community, and deliver services.

At its 2016 Transforming Local Government Conference, AFI will dive into how communities are taking charge today to be future ready. Scheduled for June 15 - 17 in St. Paul, Minnesota, the conference is being held in conjunction with the League of Minnesota Cities Annual Conference. Early bird registration ends April 27. The conversations at TLG 2016 will address the following topics:

  • Planning for Your Future.
  • Creating an Inclusive Community.
  • Reinventing Local Government.
  • Community Networks.
  • Blinders: What is it that we don’t know?

Through case study sessions focused on the topics above, conference attendees will take an in-depth look at the ingenuity and creativity of successful government programs.

"The Alliance for Innovation offers a unique slice of learning for local government in comparison to other learning providers. Often based on and presented by local government practitioners, Alliance learning opportunities are grounded in relevant and pragmatic concepts fashioned to spark new levels of innovation from participants. There isn't a better place to obtain new insights and ideas for local governments."
