ICMA’s world is packed with hundreds of members who are learning from their management counterparts in other parts of the world and striving for change and improvements to management issues. There’s a certain connection that they have, helping each other.

The November Public Management (PM) magazine celebrates ICMA’s 30 years of international work and shares some of that connection and history. ICMA’s programs show a sense of encouragement and compassion, including its CityLinks model of peer-to-peer exchanges that has created more than 100 partnerships.

For eight years, ICMA has implemented a Professionals Fellows Program, funded by the U.S. Department of State, where some 319 international Fellows and 99 U.S. outbound Fellows were placed in 83 host communities.

The issue also includes updates on improving local management in Mexico and India, while six notable members tell their personal stories in the On Point department on why their ICMA international work was so worthwhile. in the On Point department.
