Spring has finally arrived, bringing with it sun, clear skies, and some great Life, Well Run updates.

The first update is on the Success Stories Map and comes from the city of Washington, Illinois. City Administrator Jim Culotta shared the story of the community center Five Points Washington: a public-private-partnership involving five different entities. The complex is the final product of an unprecedented collaborative effort for the region.

The creation of a community center–combining an aquatic center, gymnasium, public library, performing arts center, meeting rooms, and administrative offices into a community one-stop-shop–is never an easy task. How did they get a project of this magnitude off the ground? With the strong leadership and financial know-how of former City Administrator Bob Morris. Read the Success Story in full.

The next update comes from arguably the most fun resource on the site: the video library. The newest submission is from Community Liaison Lisa LaPlante and her colleagues in Kent County, Michigan. From birth certificates and childhood vaccinations, to public safety and taking care of the elderly, Kent County did an amazing job of showing how local government services intersect with the everyday lives of their citizens.

Kent County Administrator Daryl Delabbio explains it best: “Having a passion for the community that you serve, for the profession that you serve – having that passion translates into outstanding outcomes and performance.”
