Congratulations to Lance Hedquist, city administrator, South Sioux City, Nebraska, who was the first to respond with the correct answer (Orin F. Nolting) to December’s 100th anniversary trivia quiz question! For his efforts, Hedquist will receive an ICMA business card holder, which is co-branded with the 100th anniversary and Life, Well Run campaign logos.

This month, we’re testing your knowledge of local government-related publications:

In what year did Richard J. Stillman publish his bestselling resource, The Rise of the City Manager: A Public Professional in Local Government, which summarizes the genesis of the council-manager plan and the municipal reform movement and examines the development of the local government management profession?

You can find the answer to this month’s question among the entries in the ICMA anniversary timeline, which is located at the top of the anniversary website at icma.org/anniversary. Click on any of the decades to enter.

The first member to respond with the correct answer wins an ICMA-anniversary-branded item. This month’s prize is the official 100th anniversary cap, which prominently displays the anniversary logo.

While you’re on the anniversary website, check out “The ICMA Experience,” a collection of stories and reminisces about the organization and the profession, as told through the words of your colleagues and friends. Then upload your own written story, video, or audio file! Or, email your submission directly to Amy Mayers, communications manager, at amayers@icma.org.

To submit your response to this month’s historical trivia quiz, send an email to: anniversary@icma.org by January 27. To be eligible to win, you must be an ICMA member and cannot have won in the past six months.

Good luck!
