In April, Google announced its new Government Innovation Lab. Using two counties in California (Alameda County and Kern County), Google’s goal is to redefine local government services. Their approach focuses on creating new administrative solutions by looking beyond local government cornerstones such as organizational structure, policies and budgets. The process is designed to locate where the overall problems exist without being constrained by traditional operations. At the moment, 50 officials are being selected from these two counties, while four more jurisdictions will be added later this year. More information on this project can be found through this link.
