ICMA will be revealing new and exciting features at the 103rd ICMA Annual Conference in San Antonio, and one of them is a new session type: BYOT (Build Your Own Topic) Roundtable.

Like in past years, there are 29 roundtable sessions with predetermined topics. But what if they simply don't appeal to you? You can now build your own topic for a roundtable and facilitate the discussion. Even better, we'll market the roundtable for you via our social media to help get the word out to all conference attendees. All BYOT Roundtables will take place outside the Learning Lab meeting rooms.

Here's how to BYOT Roundtable:

  • Visit the ICMA Pavilion and sign up on the BYOT Roundtable whiteboard for one of the selected dates and times: Monday, October 23, 9:45-10:45 a.m. or 2:30-3:30 p.m.; and Tuesday, October 24, 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. or 3:30-4:30 p.m. (there are only two BYOT roundtables available for each date and time).
  • BYOT Roundtables are available on a first-come, first-serve basis for members-only. With only eight spots available, it is highly recommended that you sign up your BYOT Roundtable at the Welcoming Reception.

By building your own topic, you can discuss hot issues, challenges, and opportunities other local government leaders are facing today; build connections with your colleagues; and ask others for advice. So start thinking about what your BYOT Roundtable could be!
