This 2007 report from the Downtown Commission to the Austin City Council is an excellent example of the many challenges that factor into downtown redevelopment in most major cities. Though it concerns only development issues related to properties within the sightline of the state capitol building, the commission provides a detailed analysis of all 30 corridors, their viability for further development and staff recommendations for each sight line. Though it is parochial in nature, the report also addresses numerous aspects and issues surrounding redevelopment that most city administrations will find familiar. It stands as a useful model for government employees to compare to their own.
