Montgomery County, OH stresses the importance of multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) when addressing complex challenges. MDTs are a group of diverse professional backgrounds who meet to address systemic problems and community issues. MDTs are about creating synergy to accomplish goals and to address issues in communities that require multiple entities/agencies. While there are many benefits and uses for MDTs, Montgomery County utilized them specifically to address elder abuse. The case study focuses on the steps necessary to start an MDT and provides for its organization as well as analyze Montgomery County’s MDT, the Collaboration Against Abuse Neglect and Exploitation (C.A.A.N.E).
