I received this email below and thought some of you may be interested in participating. This program is limited to cities.

Sustainability Science Team Sister City Project
Myself and four other PhD students from various departments (history, psychology, hydrology, engineering) are on the 2011-2012 Sustainability Science Team. The project we have identified for investigation is a hybrid between sustainability and what most may recognize as the “sister city phenomena.” By fostering connections between neighboring communities, be they urban and rural, urban and suburban, or suburban and rural, we hope to identify the mutual benefits, shared resources, and co-dependencies that provide a basis for synergistic sustainability programs capable of producing greater environmental benefits than either area might achieve alone.
Request for Information
We are seeking applications from city mayors, administrators or sustainability coordinators across the country (and world!) who are interested in learning and identifying how their city could work with neighboring city to achieve greater sustainability goals than could be achieved alone. This pilot program will test the tool we have created to identify such opportunities. We welcome applications up until September 15, 2012.

Please email me if you have any questions, or, if instead of forwarding the Request for Information on, you would rather provide contacts of people at the city or county level you believe would be interested in submitting.
Sincerely,
Josh
