The Automated Secure Alarm Protocol (ASAP) program (formerly known as the External Alarm Interface Exchange) is an ANSI-standard that conforms to the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM). The ASAP program is designed to remove multiple points of failure and the unreasonable time required during the traditional exchange via telephone of alarm notifications between alarm monitoring central stations and 9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs).
