Summary

The City of Charlevoix is seeking a seasoned recreation and leisure services professional to lead a multifaceted and vibrant recreation department in one of Michigan's premier destination communities. Please see detailed job description in the job brochure section below.

Under the supervision of the City Manager, the Recreation Director will provide direction, oversight, and leadership to the department and the units included within it. The Director should be capable of managing multiple people and projects while maintaining a strong customer-service focus for the people served by the department. The Director will help the City, the Recreation Advisory Committee, and Council set goals to accomplish in keeping with the Recreation Master Plan.

The Director should have excellent written and verbal skills; strong knowledge of recreation best practices; and, staff management expertise. The successful candidate should hold at least a Bachelor’s degree in recreation administration or a related field; have at least five years of recreation management experience; and, satisfactorily pass a nationwide criminal history background check.
