Maintenance Technician II

In this position, you will maintain, construct, and rehabilitate properties, facilities, and corridors for Regional Parks, Trails, and Open Space, which oversees roughly 11,500 acres of regional park preserves, open space, and special resource areas and 265 miles of Tier 1 through 3 trails. You will also work with the public to create a quality recreational experience.

Essential Job Functions - the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform:
Complete assigned work orders and tasks
Create work plans prioritized by safety needs, general maintenance, and/or resources available
Safely operate various hand and power tools and shop equipment
Weld, fabricate, and complete small-scale repairs
Perform field inspections; assess necessary repair and maintenance work
Review completed work for accuracy
Supervise and train seasonal employees
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
Extensive knowledge and experience operating, transporting, and maintaining medium and heavy equipment
Knowledge of pertinent safety and regulatory requirements, including trail safety standards
Knowledge of GIS mapping and assessment documentation
Ability to identify, plan, and administer volunteer projects
Ability to safely operate a variety of vehicles and trailers within a commercial vehicle weight range
Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with internal and external customers
Ability to make repair and improvement recommendations based on field observations
Successful candidate will have:
Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance
Three years of full-time experience related to trail systems maintenance
Possess and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver's license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
Ideal candidates will also have:
Experience in the maintenance and construction of hiking, biking, equestrian, and/or multi-use trails, including the use of light to medium equipment
Additional Information:
This position requires extensive public contact and the ability to resolve conflict in a fair and timely fashion.

Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to stoop, bend, and hike over rugged terrain and lift, push, and pull up to 100 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds on a regular basis.
