The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) seeks an innovative, energetic and dynamic leader to serve as the agency’s next Human Resources Director in Richmond, Virginia.
Overseeing an organization of 7,500 employees across the Commonwealth of Virginia, the Director reports to the Commissioner providing a comprehensive agency-wide human resources program that supports VDOT’s Mission and Code of Ethics. The Human Resources Director will evaluate, develop and operate a comprehensive human resources strategy and program in the areas of workforce development, total rewards, employee relations, talent management, succession planning, workforce development and supportive systems/data. Other key objectives will be ensuring cross-divisional communication and collaboration on projects that cut across the HR organization, the sharing of resources, best practice implementation, transparency in operations, effective use of metrics and reporting and shared commitment to integrity in all areas.
Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in human resources, public administration, business or a related field. A master’s degree and professional certification is highly desired. Minimum qualifications include experience in HR strategy development, implantation, management practices, and operations as well as strategic planning, resource allocation, employee development, assessing customer service quality standards, and managing budgets.
VDOT offers a competitive salary range of $111,150 - $152,000 dependent on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience.
