Fleet Manager

In this position, you will manage, supervise, and coordinate the activities and operations of City Fleet, including contract oversight of the fleet maintenance contract, coordinate fleet repairs with other divisions and departments, and oversee vehicle acquisition and disposal, contract oversite, and fuel management.

Essential Job Functions - the basic job duties an employee must be able to perform:
Manage the City-wide fleet maintenance contract
Assume management responsibility for Fleet Operations, including contract compliance and all other regulatory maintenance of the City's vehicles and equipment
Plan, direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for City Fleet staff as well as contract staff associated with fleet maintenance operations
Develop and administer the annual budget
Serve as the liaison for City Fleet operations with other divisions, departments, and stakeholders; negotiate and resolve sensitive issues
Ensure City and contractor compliance with all government, industry, and City standards
Maintain technical knowledge on mandated regulatory requirements for fleet operations
Select, train, motivate, and manage City Fleet personnel; maintain a supportive role for the on-site contracted staff
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
Knowledge of operational characteristics, services, and activities of a fleet management program
Knowledge of principles and practices of fleet maintenance and repair
Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations
Knowledge of methods and techniques of cost analysis for replacement of vehicles and equipment
Ability to analyze fleet replacement needs and recommend cost effective solutions
Ability to stay current of new trends and innovations in municipal fleet management
Ability to prepare and administer large program budgets
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Successful candidate will have:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, business administration, or a related field
Five years of full-time fleet maintenance operations and/or fleet management experience, including two years of lead or supervisory responsibility
Possess and maintain a valid, non-probationary Colorado driver's license not subject to restriction related to alcohol and/or drug violations or pending charges
