The City of Flora, Illinois (population 5,070) is seeking a full time Economic Development Director. Under the direction of the City Council of the City of Flora, Illinois the Economic Development Director is responsible for developing, guiding and administrating the City’s economic development and business relation functions. The position emphasizes business development (existing retention/expansion and new business recruitment), marketing/branding activities and special events. The Economic Development Director is a key liaison to the industry and commercial businesses within the City of Flora as well as Chamber of Commerce.
The position requires experience and expertise in developing strategies creating sustainable long term commercial and industrial base and promote the community’s vision as to economic development.
Job duties include but are not limited to administering the TIF, the Enterprise Zone, assisting the Flora Industrial Commission, representing the City on various economic boards and committees, performing economic duties including business attraction, expansion and retention services as well as working on special projects.
The successful candidate should have a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a major course in work and planning, public or business administration, political science or related field. Prior experience preferred as well as prior grant writing.
