The Director of Financial Services reports to the Deputy City Manager and supervises 28 staff. The Director performs and oversees highly professional accounting work and provides executive level administrative direction involving planning, coordination and implementation of all management of Financial Services for the City, including developing, implementing and monitoring policies and procedures designed to safeguard the City’s assets. The Director supervises, directs and evaluates management and professional level staff who oversee Accounting, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Water Billing, Purchasing, and Central Stores. Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Finance, Accounting, or other related field; CPA Certification or Master’s degree is preferred. Candidates should have at least five (5) years of progressively responsible supervisory/management experience in finance or accounting, to include four (4) years of experience within a similar government agency. Experience issuing bonds and completing post-issuance compliance activities and financial system replacements is strongly preferred. The starting salary is open, dependent upon qualifications.
