Stafford County, Virginia, with a population of 139,992, is located in the I-95 corridor, midway between Richmond and Washington, D.C., invites résumés and applications for the position of Director of Economic Development and Tourism. The Director will be committed to attracting, retaining and expanding high quality businesses to increase Stafford’s tourism program and economic growth. The Department operates with four (4) division programs which are Economic Development, Redevelopment, Tourism, and the Target Industry Market. The department operates with 5 employees and the adopted budget for FY 2018 is $1.1 Million for Tourism and a combined budget of $1.68 million for Economic Development.
Successful candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. A master’s degree and professional certification (CEcD) designation is desirable. Applicants should have a minimum of seven years of experience in an economic development executive leadership role. Qualified candidates must have a demonstrated ability to identify potential opportunities for business location and expansion to close deals, including knowledge and experience in applying a wide range of economic development incentive packages using a Return on Investment model.
The salary for the position begins at $124,000 and is negotiable based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
