Summary

The City of Cherry Hills Village is recruiting for a committed professional to serve as the Director of Community Development. This position is an integral member of the City’s leadership team. It is a hands-on generalist position that performs and administers all functions of the City’s Community Development Department including long range and current planning, zoning, subdivision, building permitting and inspection services, city engineering services, development review, code enforcement, GIS administration, floodplain management, and utilities permitting coordination. The ideal candidate will serve as a positive role model within the City and as an exemplary representative to the City and residents of Cherry Hills Village.

The ideal candidate should be a proven leader and participant of a management team with responsibilities for establishing and overseeing programs and policies that affect multiple departments and the City as a whole. A minimum of five years progressively responsible experience as a senior/lead planning official in a governmental setting; or equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities; and three years of supervisory and managerial experience. The successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or relevant field of study. A Master’s degree is preferred, and a master’s degree in urban planning or closely related field may be substituted for the required bachelor’s degree. A certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is preferred. The salary range for this position is $104,465- $156,674 plus an excellent benefit package.
