The City of Fayetteville is currently recruiting a Construction Manager to manage and oversee all construction projects for the City, including project pre-planning, scheduling, budgeting, and managing the design, construction, and close-out of a wide variety of projects; to oversee and manage Division staff; and to provide responsible and complex staff support for the Division.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Compose, evaluate and review plans, specifications, designs and related documents, technical reports and letters, proposals, reports and studies; participate in the development and preparation of plans, specifications and cost estimates for proposed and public improvement projects.
2.Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise and review the work of staff responsible for providing technical services within the Division; recommend goals, objectives, and practices for providing effective and efficient services.
3.Participate in the selection and evaluation of lower level staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures.
4.Assist with the selection, negotiation and management of professional services contracts; monitor contract compliance and status; inspect worksites to ensure progress and compliance.
5.Participate in the development of an assigned program for the Division's annual budget; forecast additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor expenditures; implement adjustments as necessary.
6.Provide technical assistance to the Division staff; provide hands-on training for technical staff as required.
7.Collect and process site data; assist with designing and revising various projects including plats, specifications, instructions to surveyors and drawings; draw a variety of plans including roads, drainage structures and municipal facilities.
8.Oversee and participate in the transfer of existing condition field notes to drawings.
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Six years of increasingly responsible experience in civil engineering or construction project management.
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by formal specialized training typically achieved through a formal apprenticeship program in roadway and utility installation civil engineering, construction management, project management, or a related field.
LICENSING & CERTIFICATIONS
Professional Land Surveyor License.
