Summary

Pittsfield, MA (45,000 pop.), is seeking an experienced management professional with exceptional leadership skills to serve as its next Commissioner of Public Services and Public Utilities. This dynamic and transforming community is located in Berkshire County, in western Massachusetts. Pittsfield has a bustling downtown as well as a mix of residential neighborhoods and commercial sectors. The City is led by an elected Mayor and 11-member City Council and has an FY19 operating budget of approximately $167.6 million. The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in public or business administration, engineering, construction management, or a related field. Preferred applicants should have 10 or more years of progressively responsible experience, with a minimum of five years in a supervisory position. Responsibilities include: engineering, water, wastewater, solid waste, streets, sidewalks, parks maintenance, municipal vehicle service, and municipal parking with a roughly $20 million budget. Candidates should understand, and preferably have experience, working within municipal government. Annual salary: $98K+/-. A comprehensive benefits package is part of the Commissioner’s total compensation. Pittsfield is an EOE.
