Summary

The City of Cambridge is a growing and dynamic City that was established in 1684 and is the county seat of Dorchester County. Ideally situated on the Easter Shore of Maryland, the city comprises of 12.5 square miles and hosts a nationally recognized Full Ironman qualifying event. Cambridge is a rural based community having that classic small-town feel with approximately 12,480 residents comprising of a diverse citizenry, both organizationally and personally. The City of Cambridge is a full-service city operating under the Council-Manager form of government consisting of a Mayor and five Commissioners. The City Manager oversees a workforce of approximately 115 full-time employees.

The City of Cambridge is seeking a visionary but grounded leader with an energetic, results-oriented, diplomatic candidate with strong team building and customer service skills for the position of City Manager. The City Manager is responsible for the general management of day to day operations, including administrative affairs, planning, budget development and the implementation of services programs in all departments of the City. The ideal candidate must be ethical, forward thinking, and committed to the continual improvement of the organization. The candidate must possess a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or a post-baccalaureate degree in another closely related field. All candidates for the position shall also have a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a City/County Manager or Assistant City/County. Residency is desired.
