The Department of Public Works and Facilities Building Maintenance Division currently has one vacancy for Senior Building Craft Mechanic. The Department is seeking skilled individuals in the building maintenance field, with a focused knowledge in the electrical trade, heating/air conditioning/refrigeration, and general management.
The electrician position performs duties such as installation and repair of electrical and lighting systems. This includes building wiring, switches, outlets, fixtures, panels and breakers, lamp and ballast replacement, conduit installation, generator operation, etc. This senior-level position also exercises technical and functional supervision over designated crew.
The heating/air conditioning/refrigeration position performs duties such as making repairs on waste removal systems, heating and air conditioning systems, including but not limited to evaporative coolers, package units, pumps, chillers, cooling towers, and boilers, including cutting, fitting and installing gas and water pipes; perform metal fabrication and welding, both arc and acetylene. This senior-level position also exercises technical and functional supervision over designated crew.
Experience: Two years of responsible building crafts experience performing duties similar to a Building Crafts Mechanic with Placer County.
Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented with approved coursework in project management, general construction management, and/or supervisory training.
License or Certificate:
•Possession of a valid Class A or B driver's license may be required depending upon the position. Proof of adequate vehicle insurance and medical clearance may also be required.
•Possession of appropriate required certification relative to specific area of building crafts assignment.
