Summary

The City Manager is seeking an Assistant City Manager who is an energetic, visionary leader with advanced interpersonal skills and a passion for public service. The ideal candidate will possess a collaborative management style empowering staff and encouraging cooperation among departments.

The Assistant City Manager will foster an organization with a shared sense of purpose, promote teamwork, fully articulate expectations, delegate responsibility with clarity and create a climate of accountability.

The successful candidate will be an ethical, transparent, trustworthy and highly disciplined municipal manager capable of building upon the City of Plant City’s legacy of exceptional governance. He or she will be an outstanding listener and excellent communicator with highly developed problem solving skills and total dedication to exemplary customer service.

An ability to identify and co-opt best practices, embrace emerging technologies, increase professionalism and promote innovation will be extremely important. The Assistant City Manager should be a transformative leader capable of challenging the status quo when change serves the best interests of the City and its citizens.

Politically savvy, but never political, the new Assistant City Manager will assist the City Manager in providing guidance to the City Commission in their decision-making process.

The Assistant City Manager will communicate directly and frankly, but always positively and respectfully.

The incoming Assistant City Manager will provide overall support to the City Manager in the administration of municipal operations along with specific assigned management of areas of responsibility.

The selected candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in public administration, management or closely related field and must have a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in local government or other applicable public sector agency of similar or greater size. Previous experience as a City Manager or Deputy/ Assistant City Manager is highly desired.
