The City of Ventura (pop. 109,000+) is part of California's "Gold Coast Region," just 30 miles south of Santa Barbara. The Assistant Chief Financial Officer reports to the CFO, manages the Budget Team and Treasury divisions, and supervises a staff of 13.
Ventura seeks a technically proficient financial professional with strong interpersonal skills to manage day-to-day internal operations and support the CFO in their duties. The ideal candidate will be solution-oriented, developing practical and innovative approaches to resolve problems quickly and efficiently.
Candidates will have a combination of education, training and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and five years of increasingly responsible experience in financial management and administration, revenue management, budgeting, accounting, or auditing, including two years of experience in the supervision of professional staff. Depending on the skillset of the candidate selected, this position may also oversee Purchasing.
Salary goes up to $203,735.58 annually (+3% cost of living adjustment 7/5/25), DOQE, supplemented by attractive benefits.
