Deputy Director, Watershed Protection

Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
Directs, develops, and implements short-and long-range strategies, plans, programs, and personnel that provide technical, administrative, managerial support, fiscal management, program planning, and evaluation.
Represents the Department Director in a variety of interdepartmental, intergovernmental, and community matters and may assume responsibility for the department’s operations in the absence of the Director.
Represents the department’s interests and positions before State and Local governmental officials, boards, commissions, associations, and community organizations.
Directs and manages special projects and strategic planning. Provides direction over major capital improvement projects that impact departmental operations.
Coordinates with other City departments to provide technical expertise to members of the public on citywide and current developments as it relates to watershed protection.
Develops, revises, and implements standard operating practices, policies, and procedures governing the division. Ensures division is in compliance with all governmental regulations, ordinances, directives, and City practices, policies, and procedures.
Assists in the development, management, and monitoring of the departmental budget and ensures department operates within appropriated budget. Recommends and approves major purchases and expenditures.
Responds to and resolves sensitive inquiries, complaints, and issues from both internal and external sources.
Prepares and presents reports by compiling, reviewing, and analyzing data; provides written and/or oral reports.
Investigates and resolves consumer and citizen inquiries and complaints.
Presents to City Council; Boards and Commissions; and County, State, Federal officials, vendors, contractors, and the public.
Responsibilities- Supervision and/or Leadership Exercised:
Responsible for the full range of supervisory activities including selection, training, evaluation, counseling, and recommendation for dismissal.
