The Town of McCordsville, Indiana is seeking suitable candidates for its Town Manager position. The ideal candidate for Town Manager will have experience helping a community transform and mature; embody the Town vision and create goals that translate into action plans. The Town Manager must have the ability to research, analyze, and recommend actions to the Town Council. A well-rounded background with comprehension of municipal government procedures covering many of the following areas: supervisory management, infrastructure maintenance and development, fiscal management and budgeting, general knowledge of comprehensive planning and land development, as well as initiating collaborative ideas with the State and County to promote economic development and plan for capital improvement projects is valued. Superior communication and leadership skills must be accompanied by a successful employment history that highlights exceptional customer service and a proven ability to work with residents, Town Council, employees, and the local business community. As the administrative head of the Town serving at the pleasure of the five member Town Council, the Town Manager oversees all administrative functions; supervises around 15 full time equivalent employees; oversees an annual budget of approximately $7 million; aids in the development of the annual operating budgets; and implements the Council’s policies and decisions. The following qualities and abilities are desired: strong fiscal management and budgeting skills; management of capital improvements; organizational skills; being upbeat and proactive, productive and results-oriented; focused and intent on follow-through; the ability to work on a wide variety of projects and issues at the same time; effectively collaborate and team with the Town’s Elected Officials; be able to think strategically and innovatively; government transparency to Town residents; and the ability to facilitate open discussions with partners and the community. Five to ten years working in local government management, preferably in an advanced executive management position. A bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in public administration, communications or related field is preferred, but experience is acceptable in lieu of a related degree. Prior Town Manager or other managerial experience is required with salary based on experience and qualifications. The position includes an excellent benefits package.
