The OMB Director will be a resourceful, goal oriented, high-energy team player with a positive upbeat demeanor who brings an innovative perspective and collaborative spirit to local governance. The OMB Director will perform highly responsible professional and supervisory work in coordinating and monitoring County budgetary activities. The OMB Director will participate in key decisions regarding budget development, administration, economic development, capital planning, and policies affecting the overall fiscal health of the County. The OMB Director will establish enhanced internal procedures to assist in the compilation of financial information, including improved technological aspects of collecting, assimilating, and reporting data. Working closely with the full array of departments, with a focus on being supportive, the OMB Director will strive to fully understand operations and services offered in order to develop a budget that meets County and community priorities, as well as move toward robust benchmark comparisons, data-driven information, potential cost-efficiencies, reduced redundancies, and improved timetables for reporting.
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Accounting, Finance/Business, Economics or related field and five (5) years of progressive experience in Financial Management and Administration, a portion of which shall be acquired in County Government or similar public organization or a combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. CPA or MBA preferred. The ability to acquire a Florida Driver’s license is required.
The following are desired and preference may given to candidates with:
• Master’s degree in a related field; and/or,
• Experience in local government management; and/or,
• Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience; and/or,
• Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring and financial programs; and/or,
• A focus on public transparency and public reporting
• Added credentials such as Certified Government Finance Officer (or similar); and/or
• Experience working in Florida; and/or,
• Functional capacity to productively utilize Tyler Technology – Munis platform.
The salary range for this position is $94,952 - $144,482. While the starting salary is dependent on qualifications and experience, it is anticipated to not to exceed $125,000. The County provides a comprehensive benefits program and participates in the Florida Retirement System (FRS). This position is part of the FRS Senior Management Class and has a 3% employee contribution requirement. Voluntary supplemental 457 deferred compensation retirement is also available.
