The Procurement Director position is vital in the County’s ongoing effort to create and update the County's procurement processes. The newly established Procurement Director position will be part of the County Manager’s senior leadership team, will report to the Assistant County Manager - Administration, and serve to implement the directives of the Board of County Commissioners. The Director will help facilitate related improvements in infrastructure, workforce development, and support Nassau County’s overall business climate.

This highly responsible administrative position coordinates, manages, supervises, and directs all processes of the Procurement Department, including formal procurement processes, contract co-ordination, and all other functions pertaining to the acquisition of goods and services for Nassau County. This position provides procurement guidance and support countywide, while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, policies and procedures. An employee assigned to this classification serves as the Chief Procurement Officer to effectively manage the activities relating to all county procurement, pursuant to County code, ordinances, regulations and all applicable state and federal laws.

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Management, Business or related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in local government management including experience in procurement, three (3) years of which must be acquired in a supervisory/management capacity and/or a combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Prior experience as a Procurement Director is preferred. May require a valid State Driver’s License. Preference may be given to candidates with procurement designations - Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO), Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Professional Public Buyer (CPPB), or equivalent experience.

The salary range for this position is $78,473.34 - $119,406.64. While the starting salary is dependent on qualifications and experience, it is anticipated not to exceed $105,000. The County provides a comprehensive benefits program and participates in the Florida Retirement System (FRS). Voluntary supplemental 457 deferred compensation retirement is also available.
