Cudahy is seeking a dynamic and proven municipal leader who will serve as its first city administrator. The City recently approved a referendum establishing the office and is transitioning to a new form of governance. This is a unique opportunity to become the initial professional city administrator and make a difference in the organizational development of this great community.

Cudahy is truly a place that is “Close to it All” as it combines quaint, clean neighborhoods with over 800 acres of parks and open spaces, ready access to major transportation facilities, big league city attractions within minutes and friendly neighbors waiting to roll out the welcome wagon. With three miles of Lake Michigan coastline and with new shops and restaurants popping up all the time, it is truly a community on the rise. Cudahy is a full-service municipality that prides itself on being a great place to live, work, play, learn and visit as well as for providing high quality local government services. Hiring salary range $110-$125K plus excellent benefits, DOQ. Mayor and five City Council members elected on a non-partisan basis for two-year terms. $14.1M General Fund Annual Operating Budget (including Library) with separate annual Enterprise (Sewer, Water, and Wastewater Utilities), Debt Service, and TID (including 2 existing and 1 in the process of being created) Fund Budgets totaling another $18.5M. 107 FT and 100+ PT, seasonal and contracted. Future emphasis on Comprehensive Plan implementation; Five Year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) development/implementation; City Class/Comp Plan implementation; organizational development including department standard operating procedures/policy development; development of more residential affordable housing; continuation of quality in-fill redevelopment and business park development.

Require Bachelor’s Degree in public or business administration or related field; prefer Master’s Degree with seven (7) years of progressive municipal management experience. ICMA-CM credential is a plus. Residency is encouraged. Desire a strong skill set in financial management including budget development/monitoring; capital improvement planning and implementation; commercial development/redevelopment; organizational change/development; community marketing and the ability to cultivate positive and productive relationships with the city council, staff, business community and citizens alike. The successful candidate should have open and positive communication skills; strong listening skills (seek to understand first and then to respond); be an innovative and out of the box type of thinker; have a strong work ethic and commitment to public service as well as have a verifiable record of past organizational and personal success.
