This position coordinates the City’s role in the development of downtown Bowling Green. This position will serve as a liaison between downtown businesses, property owners, entertainment venues and other interested parties and the City of Bowling Green. Responsibilities include: recruit new businesses into the downtown area; promote and market downtown to attract new business, residents and visitors. coordinate among various community stakeholders and industries for the growth and development of downtown as well as preserving the charm and character of the area
DUTIES: Market the downtown area using various forms of media, including events, attractions and activities to attract visitors and increase economic activity in the downtown area. Develop partnerships and marketing materials to promote downtown as a destination. Coordinate between various downtown stakeholders to create better awareness and growth of the downtown area. Develop and maintain an inventory of downtown businesses and properties; Actively seek and connect with potential new businesses, provide leads to brokers and property owners; Work as a supporter with potential businesses from site selection, to opening day, by building relationships and integration with the downtown area. Identify barriers to development and business success downtown and devise strategies to remove barriers. Represent downtown interests in meetings on behalf of the City of Bowling Green and serve as a liaison to the downtown area. Coordinate with City departments, private licensed premises and other businesses for the successful launch and development of the Bowling Green Entertainment Destination Center. Create, administer and maintain a downtown advisory group to coordinate events and activities in the downtown area. Identify new financial resources at the local, state and national level to support downtown development.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Public Relations, Business, Finance or closely related field, with five years of related work experience required; or any equivalent combination of education,
training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Requires knowledge of personal computer operations including software used for promotional products and social media. Strong interpersonal and written communication skills. Knowledge of real estate and development. Requires valid driver’s license, desktop publishing skills for marketing materials, and public speaking experience
