Town of Edenton (pop. 4,676) seeks well qualified candidates for Town Manager position. The vibrant, historic town was incorporated by royal decree in 1722 as the first colonial capital of North Carolina. Situated on Albemarle Sound, Edenton is one of the Inner Banks’ Harbor Towns, and the Chowan County seat. The Town often is referred to as one of the prettiest towns in America. The community leadership is focused on historic preservation, tourism, and maintaining the sound manufacturing base.
Town Manager is appointed by and works under the direction of the Mayor and six-member Town Council. General Fund budget $5.6 million, Water/Sewer Fund $2.76 million, Electric Fund $11.9 million; supervises seven department directors; 75 full-time employees. Sound finances. The current Town Manager is retiring after 33 years of service.
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in public administration, business management, organizational psychology or related field and extensive municipal management experience; graduate degree in public administration or related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
