Job Description

Broward County, Florida is conducting a national search for the position of Assistant Director of Accounting. This is an extraordinary opportunity for an experienced accounting executive with a proven and verifiable track record of municipal accounting, including auditing and preparing Comprehensive Annual Financial Reports. The Assistant Director of Accounting is a key member of the County’s financial management team and typical duties include developing, monitoring, and managing the Payables and Payroll sections performance; approving all Divisional requisitions; preparing annual division budget; reviewing and approving budget performance measures; reviewing and approving all County bank wires.
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, business, public administration, finance, or a related field is required. This position also requires at least 6 years of professional experience in state and/or local government accounting and/or audit and financial management, including experience leading the preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).
The established salary range for the Assistant Director of Accounting is up to $141,751 per year, including an excellent benefits package. Placement within the range is based on qualifications and experience.
