CONFERENCE

Overview

Join us March 27-29 in Omaha, Nebraska at the Omaha Marriott Downtown at the Capitol District.

This event is now closed. Please consider attending the 2019 ICMA Midwest Regional Conference this May.

Please Note: Despite the historic flooding and damage making an impact in Nebraska, the Mountain Plains Regional Conference in Omaha is still taking place March 27-29. If there are any changes, we will let you know as soon as possible.

The 2019 Mountain Plains Regional Conference offers a two-and-half day event that will help you keep up and keep ahead of the dramatic changes and opportunities innovative ideas and technologies present to local government's today.

BUILD AN INNOVATION PLAYBOOK

As an attendee of the Mountain Plains Regional Conference, you will walk away with an innovation playbook, and take home with you clear goals that guide how to approach, employ, and regulate the use of new ideas as they become available in 2019 and beyond.

WHAT WE'LL DISCUSS

  • The connection and content skills you need to reshape and create new innovations in your organization and community.
  • Effective command and control structures to manage the impacts of technological forces.
  • The most important factors in succeeding in the quest to become the next great smart community.
  • How to measure the effectiveness and impact of different initiatives and policies.
  • How the “best ideas” are generated.

FEATURED KEYNOTE SPEAKER: XAVIER HUGHES

As chief technology and innovation officer of ICMA, and former chief innovation officer at the U.S. Department of Labor under the Obama Administration, Xavier will discuss key elements of the local leader's innovation playbook as well as demonstrate ways innovation is as much a playbook as it is a platform to propel success and prosperity across people, process, policy data, and technology ventures.

"True innovation is not just changing something with the blind hope that it improves. Any and all responsible innovation must be planned, measured, evaluated, and continuously improved. I call it "responsible prototyping." It’s not a one-time shot, it’s a lifelong commitment."
