To ensure City officials developed a budget that represented the community’s priorities, the City of San Antonio created a campaign in FY 2016 to mobilize demographics we weren’t hearing from. The campaign, #SASpeakUp, incorporated all the great public engagement ideas we heard at the 2015 TLG Conference. After tripling resident participation, reaching new audiences and garnering local and national media attention, the approach demonstrated the value of TLG and how to creatively stitch together ideas from other cities into one aggressive, composite strategy.
