The Maryland Municipal League met in Ocean City for its annual convention from June 26-28. MCCMA held its traditional summer business meeting during the convention on Monday, June 27. Outgoing President Suzanne Ludlow thanked fellow board members for their support during her year as president.
Two long time members were recognized for their 2016 retirements. David Deutsch retired from his position as city manager of Bowie, having served in that role for 23 years. Dave has accumulated over 40 years of service to local government, and received a Life Membership recogntion from ICMA at his retirement event on June 2. Bob McLaughlin announced his retirement from Greenbelt later this year, and will have served the city for 37 years, 20 of those as city manager. MCCMA certificates of recognition were presented to both of these long tenured professionals during the June 27 luncheon.

MCCMA will gather again for a dinner during the ICMA Annual Conference in Kansas City, Missouri, on Monday, Septmber 26. Details forthcoming. A December 8, holiday luncheon and business meeting is also being planned at Carrol's Creek Cafe in Annapolis. Watch this space for additional information.
