Counties Offer Fellowships to Veterans

ARTICLE | Aug 25, 2017

Pueblo County and El Paso County, both in Colorado, are now sponsoring Veteran Local Government Management Fellows.

As described on their webpage:

The Veterans Local Government Management Fellowship (VLGMF) is a 16 to 20-week Department of Defense Military Installation approved Career Skills Program that provides transitioning service members with management training and hands-on experience in the local government environment with the goal of preparing them for smooth transitions into local government careers. This program matches eligible and selected fellows with surrounding local government sponsors based on skills, education, experience, and the preferences of both parties.

The International City/County Management Association (ICMA) is a sponsor for this program. Along with gaining public sector experience by working directly with a local government, Fellows also have the opportunity to complete the ICMA Local Government 101 Certificate program, access the ICMA Coaching program, receive professional support from the ICMA Senior Advisor program (formerly Range Rider program), and receive numerous other professional development resources and opportunities.
