Where and when is the 2018 ICMA Annual Conference?
The 2018 ICMA Annual Conference begins on Sunday, September 23 and ends on Wednesday, September 26, 2018. This year's Conference is being held at the Baltimore Convention Center located at 1 W Pratt St, Baltimore, MD 21201.
Who should attend the ICMA Annual Conference?
Anyone can attend the ICMA Annual Conference. City managers. Students. Budget analysts. Public safety officials. Assistants. Economic development managers. Planners. Local government management professionals of all career stages and backgrounds come to the ICMA Annual Conference each year.
Is there a dress code at the ICMA Annual Conference?
Conference and evening event attire is business casual. If you are attending a special meeting, you might want to consider wearing a suit.
How do I use the new kiosk feature at the ICMA Annual Conference this year?
This year the registration area will feature self-service kiosk stations, where you will be able to scan the QR code you received with your registration confirmation to print your badge(s), tickets, and other registration materials. You can scan your QR code in paper, from your mobile device, or you can enter your name at a self-service station to print your registration materials on-site in Baltimore. ICMA Staff will be available on-site to assist you, and answer any questions about our new system. Inquiries by email can be addressed to email@example.com.
Can I download Annual Conference presentations?
Yes, registrants of the ICMA Annual Conference will have access to download session handouts and PowerPoint presentations from various sessions through the Conference App and online during and after the Conference event.
How do I get to the Baltimore Convention Center? Will there be a shuttle?
ICMA will not provide a shuttle, but there are a number of shuttle services from BWI to the Inner Harbor; hotels will likely also have their own shuttles to and from BWI. Please note that the city of Baltimore offers a light rail service that stops immediately outside of the Baltimore Convention Center - this is the cheapest and most convenient option for attendees.
Baltimore also has the MARC train, a commuter rail system that operates primarily between Baltimore's Penn Station through BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport train station.
What meals will be provided at the Conference?
Attendees of the ICMA Annual Conference will find that several special events will provide food. Outside of these special events, food is not typically provided but the Baltimore Convention Center will have several kiosks of food choices available for Conference attendees. Please find below a list of dates and times where food will be provided for attendees:
- Saturday, September 22: No breakfast or lunch; light hors d'oeuvres provided at Maryland Science Center event (ticket required)
- Sunday, September 23: No breakfast or lunch; heavy hors d’oeuvres provided at Welcoming Reception (ticket required, but included in all normal registrations).
- Monday, September 24: 7:00 AM Inspirational Breakfast (ticket required); breakfast in Exhibit Hall at 9:30 AM (no ticket required); Assistant's Luncheon at 11:15 (ticket required); lunch in Exhibit Hall at 12:15 PM (no ticket required); no dinner provided unless attending state association or affiliate receptions.
- Tuesday, September 25: Refreshments in Exhibit Hall at 10:00 AM; lunch in Exhibit Hall at 1:00 PM (no ticket required); dinner provided at B&O Railroad Museum reception (ticket required).
- Wednesday, September 26: No meals provided.

Can I bring my partner to the Conference? How can I register them?
Absolutely! You can register through the Annual Conference registration process, using the Partner Registration section. The registration rate for partners is $105 which includes a ticket to the Welcoming Reception on Sunday evening. Also, new to the Conference this year is a partners' special brown bag session. How do I add additional events to my registration?
This year, Annual Conference attendees can purchase additional tickets online after they have registered. Simply log into your account, click My Events from your My ICMA profile, click on the 2018 Annual Conference event, and click the orange Add Session button under your sessions listing. How do I cancel a ticket/my Conference registration?

Why can't I add items to the personal schedule? How do I use it?
Ticketed events will appear on your personal schedule once you register for them; non-ticketed sessions can be added to your schedule by clicking the checkbox next to the session title, and the Add to Schedule button at the bottom of the page. If the session is not on the registration form, you’ll be able to add it to your schedule yourself at no cost.

Non-ticketed session categories: Educational Sessions, Educational Exhibits & Solutions Track Sessions, Keynote/Featured Speakers, Learning Labs, Special Meetings

How do I book a hotel for the ICMA Annual Conference?
Hotel reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis by Experient, Please do NOT contact the hotels directly. For a list of Conference hotels and rates, click here.
When is the last day to receive the discounted hotel rate?
Reservations must be received by August 24 to guarantee conference rates. Higher rates may exist after that time.
What are the hotel cancellation policies?
Reservations may be changed (based on availability) until August 24 without penalty and must be cancelled at least 72 hours prior to arrival to avoid a penalty of one night’s room and tax.
