The ICMA Research and Development team connects you to the research and tools you need to better serve your community. We work with a wide array of strategic partners—federal agencies, foundations, corporations, and others—to identify and analyze critical issues facing local governments. Armed with data, we then identify and further develop best practices that you can apply to your jurisdiction. What makes ICMA unique is our ability to tap into our network of over 9,000 local government leaders who are the city, town, and county managers who confront these issues every day. They know what works.
Leading the Way
ICMA delivers ahead-of-the-curve resources, products, and services for local governments. We design and implement programs that address the challenges of the 21st century—not only the issues confronting our communities today, but also the challenges local government managers will face in the years to come. Our ability to look ahead and provide leadership on these critical issues is why both the public and private sectors continue to look to ICMA for answers to the challenges facing their communities.
